The scope of protection

The object of protection, is your personal data which would include your name, contact details, and information provided to us in facilitating bookings for travel and accommodation. We ensure confidentiality of your data while in our exclusive possession.

Your personal information and data may be collected by us and processed and may also be provided by us to other service providers with notice to you, in facilitating the provision of our services and products to you. However, we do not have the capacity to ensure the same level of protection where such information and data are in the hands of third parties.

HDB may also use your contact and personal details in marketing its products, provided that you specifically agree to our doing so, by subscribing for such promotional information. Unsubscribing from this facility will ensure that your personal data or information is not relied on in our marketing.

If websites and services by other site owners are linked to this website, they have been and will continue to be designed and supplied by third parties. HBD has no influence on the design, content or function of third-party services. Please note that third-party sites linked to this website may have their own cookies which are installed on your device to collect personal data. Additionally, you may choose to access our social media sites. In this case too your personal data may be collected and used by the owners of these platforms, and any assurance as to the protection you may be afforded should be obtained from the operators of those platforms.

Retention period

Where our services have been utilized in obtaining bookings, whether for travel or accommodation, information of your personal data could be retained in our records for a maximum period of six years. The period of six years will be computed from the date on which it was first recorded in HBD’s systems. The information would however be permanently deleted at the end of the said six year period, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

In other instances (i.e. where not utilized to obtain bookings) we generally apply the rule whereby we only save your personal data for as long as they are required to fulfill their purpose or if you have given your consent, until you revoke your consent. If you revoke your consent, we erase your personal data, unless further processing is permitted under the relevant applicable statutory provisions. We also erase your personal data if we are under an obligation to do so on legal grounds.

Rights of data subjects

As a data subject you are entitled to the following rights:

  • Right to information: You have a right to access the data we have stored about you as a person.
  • Right to rectification and erasure: You can require us to correct inaccurate data or provided that the legal grounds are in place to erase your data.
  • Restriction of processing: Provided that the legal grounds are in place, you can require us to restrict the processing of your data.
  • Data portability: If you have provided us with data on the basis of a contract or your consent, and as long as there are legal grounds, you can require us to send you the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or you can require us to send your data to a different controller.

If you make use of your right to object, we shall discontinue the processing of your data, unless we can, within the parameters of the law, demonstrate legitimate grounds for further processing, outweighing your own rights.
